For our customers, using Yebo Fresh means avoiding the hassle, cost, and risk of overcrowded and/or expensive transport, long queues, and carrying heavy bulk goods.


We engage with entrepreneurs, and our customers on our platform on a daily basis through field sales agents, supplying credit lines, having WhatsApp conversations, and organizing product deliveries.


These interactions allow us to build extensive qualitative and quantitative insights into the typical patterns, challenges, and critical success factors of township entrepreneurs.


We are now keen to build on this physical & digital infrastructure and to use these insights. We are building an ‘empowerment’ engine for South African entrepreneurs who, as we observe, often struggle in this highly competitive environment and to provide them with education and development opportunities


Position - Project Management Officer ( JHB )


What You Will Do

We are looking for a Project Management Officer to join the founding team of a startup project with national ambitions to bring breakthrough impact to the world of Entrepreneurs and small township businesses in education, funding, job creation, and support, in partnership with the National Treasury in their goal to address the challenge of unemployment in South Africa.


The goal is to unlock exponential Entrepreneur and Township SME growth with the corresponding impact by building an Entrepreneurial Development Program Platform that supports eCommerce and online entrepreneurial education to support retail financing models and business growth that results in scale which ultimately leads to job creation.


We are looking to create;

  • A more just and equitable society that depends upon more families and households having a stable income in the townships through entrepreneurship development by providing entrepreneurial learning content through coaching, online delivery, on-site training, peer learning, and networking

  • Growth of Township SMEs and growing livelihoods through adequate access to finance in the retail industry in collaboration with training and marketing

  • Entrepreneurial growth, scale, and support; we are seeking growth beyond traditional models, using technology to educate and through intelligent behavioral software and powerful entrepreneur technology support toolkits


In this role, we are looking for a professional who will assist and support the projects and programs in the group. The person will also act as the right hand of the project manager/delivery manager. The activities of the PMO will be centralized around resource and work planning & control, budget management, change management, marketing, communication, and product quality control.


As a Project Management Officer, you will directly report to our Head of Entrepreneur Impact and work closely to support our EXCO team.


The Officer will manage the day-to-day activities of various teams to ensure sub-projects are completed on time and within budget. Other responsibilities will include planning project management activities, analyzing financial information to keep projects on track, and collaborating with different departments to ensure all leaders understand where a project is in the development process.


We are looking for team members who are competitive, ambitious and have a track record of over-achieving and exceeding targets


Key Role Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Report generation following a predefined script as well as preparation of custom reports for project needs

  • Help with the implementation of standard project management methodology

  • Project Workplan management support; keeping track of plans, budget, quality standards, deliverables, and dependencies

  • Project metrics reporting and project finance management

  • Facilitation of internal and external meetings

  • Monitoring of relations between project areas and active improvement submission

  • Organizing project resource management

  • Monitor the project’s progress

  • Identify risks in a timely manner and ensure proper escalation to Project Manager, while proposing mitigation actions

  • Evaluate issues' significance and impact and ensure their resolution

  • Facilitate communication between all involved stakeholders

  • Handling communication, marketing and publicity briefs


KPI’s:

  • Risk and Quality log accuracy

  • Delivery Timelines of the project

  • Project-specific KPIs to be agreed upon between Yebo Fresh and the client

  • Solutions resolved

  • Audit passes


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 2- 4 years of experience in project management support within professional services

  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Knowledge of MS Project is an advantage

  • Knowledge of Google Suites is an advantage

  • Knowledge of financial processes (e.g. invoicing and budgeting)

  • Experience in the FMCG or Township space will be added advantage

Contract Type: Permanent Employment Contract with a 3-month probationary period. Work location: Cape Town or Johannesburg East Rand. Combination of work from home and office-based with at least three days a week spent in the offices/ in trade
